Olympic Park Run Competition

The National Lottery Olympic Park Run

Win a chance to run across the Olympic finish line!

GOLDEN GIRL: Mary Peters running in the Olympics THE Olympics 2012 are being held in London this year and you could be one of the first to run across the finish line in the Olympic Stadium.

Our Olympic hero Golden Girl, Mary Peters, crossed the line to lift her crown as queen of world athletics.

And today, three of our Sunday World readers are being offered the unique opportunity of following in her footsteps.

Because we are giving you the chance to compete in a five mile run which finishes in London's Olympic Park and that is even before any of the other current Olympians - like sprint superstar Usain Bolt - even begin their warm up!

The official ballot for one of the 5,000 places to take part in The National Lottery Olympic Park Run on March 31 closed at the end of October.

But the Sunday World has now managed to secure THREE places to give away to readers for what will be the very first public event to be staged in the magnificent Olympic Stadium. Each runner will get special race souvenirs and can have two friends or family watching them.

The five-mile course will cross the Olympic Park and offer access across it on a scale not yet experienced by the public.

MAGNIFICENT: The Olympic trackThe route will pass alongside the other iconic Olympic and Paralympic Games venues that The National Lottery has helped fund and where many elite athletes' hopes and dreams of London 2012 medal success will be realised just a few months later.

The run will end on the home straight in the spectacular Olympic Stadium. Hoping to cross the finish line first will also be a host of former and current Olympic and Paralympic athletes and celebrity runners.

Everyone taking part will receive a computer chip timing for an accurate running time, a souvenir finisher's medal, on-course refreshments, branded T-shirt and a finisher's pack.

Each runner will also get two spectator tickets for family or friends to take their seat in the Olympic Stadium itself and cheer them on.

The National Lottery is contributing up to £2.2 billion towards the funding of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, including the venues and infrastructure where the world's athletes hope to fulfil their dreams.

To be in with a chance of winning one of the places answer these three questions correctly:

  • WHERE did Dame Mary Peters win her Olympic Gold Medal?
  • WHEN did she win it?
  • And WHAT did she win it for?

All you have to do is email your answers to news@nth.sundayworld.com or post it to us at Sunday World, National Lottery Olympic Park Run Comp, 124 Royal Avenue, Belfast BT1 1EB. by noon next Thursday, January 19.

And don't forget to include your phone numbers and e-mail address. The competition is open to anyone aged 16 or over, of any running ability (certain exclusions apply).

This unique sporting prize does not include travel or accommodation costs - only the chance to say you've run in London's iconic Olympic Park and cross the finishing line. It is open to UK and Isle of Man residents only.
